The main large graphite works for the Capsule. ‘First Issue’ and ‘Chimichangas!’

Recently becoming a little obsessed with Comic Book corners, and classic elements of old Comic Book covers, I wanted to explore and see if I could find a way of including them in the Artworks- mixing the old style, the wear and tear, and the new. These two images made a really nice complimentary pair, lending themselves very well to being drawn in Pencil.

A long time Graphite Pencil user, I also started experimenting with a watercolour layer underneath to add texture, and building up a charcoal-like layer through brushed graphite. My first time using the Blackwing Matte Black and Pearl pencils was an absolute treat. The Matte Black especially, creating some beautiful darks and soft tones.
